The Guggenheim Museum

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum is one of the most well-known museums in New York City. It is commonly referred to as, "The Guggenheim". It was first opened to the public on October 21, 1959, and since then, thousands of people have come to admire the art in it and the unique building itself. The Guggenheim has a renowned collection of Impressionist , Post Impressionist, early Modern, and Contemporary Art, and also features special exhibits all through the year.

One of the most interesting things about The Guggenheim is its unique architecture. From the outside, it looks like a white ribbon or a cone. It appears to be wider at the top than it is at the bottom. On the inside, it is an amazing spiral all the way from the main floor up to to the top.

It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, and on October 21, 2009, it will be the 50th anniversary of the building of the museum.
